learn abstract photography
Len Metcalf and Shirley Steel have been teaching and practising the art of abstract photography for the past ten years.
We choose to call this genre ‘Abstract’ so that it is inclusive of all techniques, looks and photographers. We believe all photography has some form of abstraction, and that abstract photography falls on a huge continuum from abstract realism right the way through to colour field works. We intentionally don’t use the terms ‘ICM’ or impressionistic or expressionistic as we believe these are limiting and often reference specific movements in art history. Abstract is a generalist term and is all encompassing.
