Panoramic Photography Workshop ·
Learn the fundamentals of panoramic cameras. Including such topics as exposure determination, helical focusing, nodal points, hyperfocal focusing, tripods, composition, & film choice. During this workshop you will be taken to some fantastic sweeping vistas highly suited to stunning panoramic photography. This workshop does not cover digital panoramic photography or digital stitching.
1 day – $495.00 for one eight hour day
2 days – $795.00 for two eight hour days
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Identify and frame panoramic photographs (this will include the fine-tuning your panoramic composition).
- Focus your panoramic camera while understanding and utilising depth of field (using hyperfocal scales, circle of confusion, rangefinders, a ground glass and distance estimation)
- Describe the features and benefits of different films and determine the correct exposure for black and white negative, colour negative, colour positive (transparencies) films.
- Describe and demonstrate various photographic working methods for location scouting, framing and image capture.
- Choose the correct lens for your composition.
- Correctly set up and use a tripod, other camera supports and demonstrate how to hand hold a camera.
- Develop your own film (to do this at home you will need to acquire the appropriate equipment and chemicals)
- Identify appropriate resources to carry into the field, for comfort, safety, and camera repair & maintaince.
- Identify various types of panoramic cameras and different panoramic formats.
- Discuss panoramic photography compositional issues
- Examine various panoramic photographers, working methods and photographic images.
Students who only complete one day will not be able to achieve all the stated learning outcomes.
